An Absence of Light by Meradeth Houston

I don't normally read books that might be a little bit scary or very scary. But I decided to make an exception because I have read all of Meradeth Houston's books and really enjoyed them. So, I decided to give her newest book a try!

When Leah’s whole family is murdered she flees the scene because she knows she will be the number one suspect. After stealing a car, Leah drives until she can't make it any further. At the garage she meets Adam and Manuel who prove to be very important in her life. Leah gets nervous when she sees the shadows and Adam and Manuel realize that she can see them too. Leah has never met anyone else who can see them, but she is happy to have people to help her figure out the strange shadows she has seen for as long as she can remember. The evil forces that are the shadows linger around people and around corners waiting to wreak havoc. What Leah, Adam and Manuel are trying to figure out is where did the shadows come from and how can they get rid of them before things get even more intense. Will they be able to stop the shadows before they take over the world? Can any of the shadows be trusted? Will Leah ever be able to live a life where she isn't worrying about the shadows? You'll be on the edge of your seat as you read on to find out!

An Absence of Light by Meradeth Houston is a book that will excite and thrill those who like a book with creepy factors. The characters were all well developed, and I felt a connection to them. I especially liked Manuel’s mom, and I like the relationship that develops between Leah and another character. The writing flowed, and the author does a great job explaining the shadows and how they operate. I could easily picture them and their history. They don't sound like anything I would like to come into close contact with or any contact with for that matter! I like the science fiction aspects to the story. I think this is a perfect read for people who like scary books or books with supernatural elements.

Has anyone else read An Absence of Light? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
